That depends on if they can stay healthy. Maggilio, Pudge, and Guillen all were healthy last year. That was a huge factor in thier success.
Sheffield will only make them that much stronger, and he will be fun to watch!
Casey, although he doesnt have a lot of power, can still pop it over that right field fence. It's good to have him all season long.
Bonderman will only get stronger and more mature.
I am a little worried about Verlander. He pitched more innings in '06 than he ever has, ever. I hope his arm doesnt get tired.
Dombrowski & Leyland are doing everything they can to protect his arm.
Joel Zumaya has that experience now, and will get better.
It sure is fun to see him whip that ball at 103 mph!
Mike Maroth is a question mark. I am not sure where The Tigers plan to put him. They were thinking of using him in the bullpen.
With the loss of Jamie Walker, they need a lefty specialist.
(Wilfredo Ledezma might fill that role?)
And we still have Kenny Rogers for another year. He'll be fine. Just keep him away from the pine tar bag and cameramen(lol).
Now, will they made back to the world series?
It will be tough, but it could happen.
Even with Liriano out for all of 2007, and Brad Radke retired, I still expect The Twins to be in the thick of things. Cleveland has made some moves to get better.
I look forward to a 3 way race (Detroit, Cleveland, and Minnesota.
the whinny sux will falter after the all star break and will not be a factor at all) for the division and wild card.
Although, as a Tiger fan, I would love to see them go back to the world series; I know that they actually ahve to play the games to do so. I am not expecting that to happen.
I am just pleased as punch that The Tigers finally are serious contenders after being down for so long.

Detroit has the best pitching in the American league, and they;ve improved themselves with Sheffield. I believe the Tigers will make it back to the World Series because of their pitching and hitting. Don't forget about Leyland, either. He's a very good manager. Detroit had the best record in all of baseball for almost the entire season, and that can't be a fluke. I think the only reason Detroit didn't win the WS was that the pitchers especially are young and just plain freaked to be in that position. You don't see major league pitchers make 5 errors in a series like that... simple throwing errors that were due completely to the stress of the situation.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing the Tigers play next year, and I am quite happy that the Yankees got knowcked out of the playoffs by us!!! BWAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!

The Tigers have the makings of a Champion but it remains to be seen with their division being so tough. They have to play the Twins and the White Sox 19 times over the season. Their Pitching is the strength on their team. I would love to have a guy who can throw it at 103 mph. Sheffield will bring their club some power but more important RBI's.
I like their chances and I would love a rematch.

That would be so good for the city... the way everyone came together to support the Tigers was refreshing.... It has been a long time for the baseball team to generate excitement and it certainly looks like we can enjoy this for the near future. Hopefully they learned from this experience and will be more determined not cocky over their accomplishments.
The team is in great shape with Maroth coming back so we will have 5 starter rotation, great bullpen, and good hitting. So Gooooooo Tigers!!
Now if only the Lions could learn something from their neighbor!!!

i dont think verlander will do as well as he did this year
i think he will be good for the team, but dont assume sheffield will make a difference, remember, he is old, and coming off an injured season.
the tigers come from the much tougher league that is the american league, in the toughest divison, that is the central. the twins are looking to defend their title. and the sox are making deals to get them back in. we are looking to a season where th wild card will most likely come out of the central again, with 3 contenders, possibly 4 depending on the indians

One of the best questions out there.
I would have to say there chances are pretty good to make the playoffs. I can see them winning the wild card spot again.
I believe it all comes down to one arm... Jeremy Bonderman.
I know this may seem strange but we all have a few defining moments in our lives that change us for the better and Bonderman is in the process of renegotiating his contract , if he gets around the 5 million that he is worth and along with having his first child during the past year his maturity level should increase on and off the field.
I believe he will only get better averaging 10 K's per game along with 20 wins. (thee best slider in the game)
The Tigers are so well stocked with young talent that they will be contending for years.
Maybin is being called the next Willie Mays and he is only 19...
We shall see. But it sure was fun this year!

I don't think so. They won last year with young pitching and the league now has seen them and will adjust. Sheffield will be fine, unless the club starts a losing streak and then he'll start crying and blow up the great chemistry they had last season.
I'm picking the Twins first, Sox second, Tigs third.

Yes, I see the Tigers winning the American League Championship in 2007 and facing off with the Chicago Cubs in the World Series.

Tigers will do well as they have excellent pitching. GS will help the offense too. Should be a great battle in AL Central with Sox and Twins.

They certainly have the talent to make it back, but the chances of winning two pennants in a row are quite slim. It has not been done since the Yankees almost ten years ago.
