I have a Gateway 450XL laptop. This is relatively new. Recently It's been BEEPING at random times. It has this one long beep and it disappears, it does it at random times. Nothing happens after it beeps, im wondering if the computer is telling me something is wrong. I have reformated and installed Windows XP pro on this computer three times now, and I still cant get rid of the beep. The tech people already came, and replaced the motherboard, CPU and fan, the BEEP is still there!!! It's the motherboard thats beeping.

Sounds like a faulty stick of RAM .... or possibly a lose or faulty graphics card ... either way ... it should be picked up under warranty ...if they only replaced the motherboard cpu and fan and NOT the RAM ... thats where I would begin my troubleshooting

In my experience, this problem with notebooks often happens for one or more of the following reasons:

1. Loose CPU
2. Worn out heat sink pad
3. Bad memory stick
4. Driver corruption
5. Fan not working properly.

In most cases, it's a loose CPU. Some models have a "defective" CPU seat and the CPU becomes loose unexpectedly. In this case, all you need to do is disassemble the top part of your notebook and reset the CPU.

Beeping noises frequently come from the motherboard telling you that the memory (or the different hardward elements on your pc) is failing. can not truly say without somewhat examining your pc, yet from the sound of it, i ought to ought to assert it is your memory. have you ever tried checking your gadget techniques to ensure if any of your RAM failed?

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
