My bloody HP Pavilion F1703's backlights is spoilt... according to other people... they have the same problem...
So now I need to buy a new monitor or I could just send it to a computer dude and get my backlight fixed...

Which is cheaper and which do you recommand?

Unless you feel comfortable doing the work yourself (and know that you are messing with) stay away from opening a LCD screen.
This is not without danger, the backlight inverters produce high voltage (up to 1500 Volt) and have enough current to kill you.

Depending on where you live, still in general, work hours are too expensive to justify a professional repair.

If under warranty, let them replace it free of charge.

You dont need to buy a new backlight. Im not talking crap about the other answer above me but calling it a "backlight" is someone unexperienced with this issue. What you need to buy is an "INVERTER" for your screen. Do a search for your monitor then type in the word "INVERTER" without the quotes and buy that... It should be a semi-long thin board. Very easy to instal.

usually its the power inverter to the backlight, the backlight itself lasts a long time. order an inverter and a bulb to be on the safe side, and put them in yourself. this will cost one third the amount getting a new monitor would.
