I have the exact same problem with that stuff. It's because it's so powdery. It only works on super-smooth surfaces, and even slightly dry skin is not that!
You probably already know to exfoliate lots to get rid of dead skin cells, but that doesn't necessarily solve the problem completely.
It's all very well moisturising before you put it on, but eventually your skin will probably go a bit dry and flaky anyway.
You need to avoid those sorts of foundations that have a powder finish. You want something very liquidy, and put it on after a layer of moisturiser. They always say to let the moisturiser sink in first, but I always do it straight away- this seems to stop any flaking. My favourite moisturiser to use pre-makeup is Boots Cucumber. I've tried so, so many, including really expensive ones, but that £2 tub seems to be the best I can find!
You definitely need to get a new foundation. My first recommendation would be Revlon Age Defying. I'm only 23 so never would have thought to try it but I used a sample from a magazine and was so impressed. It contains silicone so it goes on really smooth and creates an amazing glowy finish.
Other ones that I've really liked are Rimmel Hydrience, which is quite light coverage and very nice texture, Bourjois Happy Light gives a lovely glow to your skin but is so light it's no use if you need to cover any flaws, and Clinique Superbalanced which I find really long lasting with medium coverage.
You can't have anything too matte with dry skin cuz it's often got powder in it, but you can always layer a liquid foundation and combine it with a good concealer if you need more coverage.
You can finish off with a dusting of very fine loose powder, which should set it, but go easy if you sense there might be flakes.
Best of luck!

First off, i have to say unfortunately drream matte mousse foundation is a really yucky foundation. but... with that said, i would recommend using a toner before putting on any foundation. this is a great base to work from. Also, your skin may be very dry, and if that is the case your pores are drinking up all the foundation. Use a gentle facial moistrizer to prevent the peeling from happening. Using a powder to finish it off will help as well. The powder will buff into the foundation making a smooth even surface, and "set" the makeup.
but honestly, the best recommendation i can give you is to try a different foundation. Covergirl "clean" is very light, and applys much better. Shop around, you will find one thats just right!
I hope that helps :)

First of all it sounds like you have a bad reaction to this stuff, your skin should certainly not be peeling or red - stop using this makeup!!! I tried it & got the same horrible results. I also have very dry & sensitive skin - as air crew I have to wear makeup all the time also cope with the dry atmosphere on board. The best moisturiser I've found to date is Olays Intensive moisturiser - though it's very rich it sinks in right away and is a good base for makeup. The best foundation I found is Max Factor lasting finish, it doesn't dry the skin but stays on for hours without needing a retouch, just seal it with a little loose powder and you get a flawless finish.

Hello! Don't you worry I have the same problem. I used to suffer with bad skin, so now have completely combination skin and a variety of foundations for all my different skin days!
I too use Dream Matte Mousse on oily skin days and totally would not use it on a dry skin day.. Like today! And I think its a lot to do with the weather too. The time of year, is very harsh on skin, and all the central heating etc doesn't help either! Days like today I stick to cream foundations, such as Boots 17, and the ones I completely avoid on oily skin days.
Simply put if you'd like to continue using it, you need to exfoliate a few times a week and use a really good rich moisturiser at night time such as E45, but again, I use Superdrugs Vitamin E oil. This is brilliant on dry skin and really makes a difference!
I hope this helps!

You didn't mention your skin-type but it sounds as if you're using a foundation which is too Matte for your skin. Dream Mousse is a great product but if you have the slightest signs of dryness it will just emphasise the flakiness and look awful! Try a different foundation- if you prefer Maybelline products you could try Wonder Finish or Instant Rewind. Both bases are almost invisible if applied correctly.

Try using a better foundation. It sounds like you have dry skin and a good moisturiser will help this but you should have a look at Lancome and Clinique Foundations that do make ups for certain skin types, they are expensive but they are well worth the money! I recommend Clinique and if you ask the girl at the counter which is for dry skin she will be able to tell you as they aren't just written on it!

I used that for a while and found the same thing, or it went patchy, I stopped using it and now use Max factor, I like their foundation very much, choose a type to suit your skin type. Or have one custom made to match your skin tone, some of the big department stores offer this service, look for a make-up house that offers a prescription foundation service, I think Clinique do it.

well maybe that certain foundation isnt right for your skin. I would reccomend mac makeup it works really good or benefit.
But if you want to contine using the matte mouse, then i suggest you put a moisturizer on your face and wash your face regularly. But put the moisturizer on before the make up....it will keep your skin fresh and healthy. I would suggest using the nutrogena face moisturizer.

You may need to change your cleansing routine. Cleanse your skin before applying make-up, exfoliating dry areas if necessary.
Then mositurise.
Apply concealer to blemishes and dark circles under your eyes blend it in using your ring or little finger, as these fingers provide the right amount of pressure for setting the concealer. (sounds odd but it does work).
The apply your foundation using a wet cosmetic sponge starting at the nose and blending outwards using cuircular movements.
If necessary reapply concealer to your problem areas.
Personally, I apply foundation and then concealer.
You can then apply translucent powder.
Hope this helps.
But it really sounds like you need to change your cleansing routine and exfoliate your dry areas before applying foundation.
Maybe even try changing your foundation eg: light base liquid foundation.
Good luck.

I suggest you try exfoliating your skin before applying the foundation. First try using a face scrub a couple times a week. When you see flakes on your skin before applying makeup - take a warm wash cloth and gently scrub the flakes. Then use your moisturizer first, then apply your choice of foundation makeup. It's really hard not to get flakes during the winter time. :)
