Hi
Lots of babies sleep badly. If the dummy settles the baby then there is no harm in using one. However, if the baby is unhappy but not hungry then maybe your aunty should at least speak to her health worker. Good luck and thanks for caring about the baby!!!! Babies should always get first consideration as they can't tell anyone how they feel.

People should stop using dummies. They are a lazy way of dealing with a child and can have a terribly negative effect upon a child's teeth and speech development.
Many children won't sleep or will manipulate their parents into spending more time with them.
Either he will lose the pattern or your aunt will have to 'reprogramme' his behaviour.
It's not always easy, but then who said it was supposed to be easy?

if it was me i would start by giving him a really calm bath before bed then putting him down after a warm bottle of milk. If he woke in the night i would wait a little while before going to him but not to long just to see if he settled back off to sleep. If i needed to go into him i would just place my hand on him so he knew i was there and hopefully he would settle back of. [MY FRIENDS BABY WAS LIKE IT AND THIS WORKED FOR HER] good luck.

The baby is getting used to that routine. My daughter was getting like that. I had to let my daughter cry for about five minutes and then she would go back to sleep. She did this for about two days and it got better.

it's odd that a baby at 6 months wouldn't sleep during the day. and actually it's proven that babies who get regular naps during the day sleep better at night.

Perhaps he is teething or just generally feels bad. Just give him lots of comfort. This, too, shall pass.
