Well, I found this one out the hard way. Choose to always be with the people around you. Choose to be with people who are less than our current state. And dont just stare at them and say random stories/comments/etc. Help them. yes help them. If your fellow peers in your current level see you doing this, they'll say, "Wow, we never thought of helping those guys, this guy's smart, I think I'll follow him" but it wont be automatic, it'll take time, but your respect does not dwindle so easily. Just remember to keep your head down and just chill. Oh and oh yea, try and prove yourself useful to people around you. Voulunteer, help and improve others. Don't be shy of giving some poor bloke a pat on the back. Don't foget other's names REMEMBER THAT. Oh well.... I think I forgot a few other tips but these should help you enough. AND OH YEA! getting respected doesn't give you always the priviledge of getting noticed nor getting mentioned in the whole public. That's for the super respected guys with positions who got lucky enough to be noticed by the right people. Don't worry if your not noticed though, your memory will not be forgotten and your actions will live in the minds of those you "touched" (Sounds cheesy)

Just wanting to be is the first step to being...and as Joan Collin once said, 'FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT'.
In otherwords, you have your own unique gifts and interests. First take a look at what you are interested in, and what you enjoy, then find a way to interact with the community.
In this way, with a sincere interest, you can fulfill your own happiness and through your joy you will just naturally pass on your good will and what you have gained to those around you.
This doesn't have to be much, you can influence people with just a smile, with a thoughful gesture, by politely holding a door for someone, or helping out in some small way.
With the season of giving you can give a donation to your community. It doesn't need to cost much, it can be a simple tin of food, or you can pick up trash in a local park, or you can drop off some books at a nursing home. All these things will make others find out what a respectable person you are, and l am sure you will make new friends along the way...

Being "high" in the community will not necessarily make you a happier, more valuable person. There are lots of people in high places who are miserable. What you need if you really want true significance is to live unselfishly for your community. Help the less fortunate, disabled, poor. That, NO ONE can argue with. Then, if you want to lead in your community, as far as I am concerned you will then understand what true leadership is all about. Leadership is not about being above others, it is about stepping beneath them and empowering them. These kinds of people make the greatest leaders.

Good question, if you are really serious and will accept this as a challenge then do as follows:
Try to find out who is your favorite person.
Stick his/her image some where in the room.
Start talking in front of a mirror loudly
keep it in mind you are that personality.
Do this twice in a day specially before going to bed.
Believe it in your mind you got such personality and people respect you. Believe me you will be surprised when you will get the result and send me a thank you note like others.
