I don' think we need Thatcher back, but we do need a leader who is honest and puts this country first.
A few years ago the French banned the import of British beef (BSE scare) even though it was in breach of EU laws. Can you imagine even for one second that the UK Government would ever wilfully break a EU law to try and protect it's citizens? The whole idea is laughable,it just could not happen in Britain, the law is the law. (PS France was let off paying a fine and any other consequences for its actions)

Some people in Iraq would like Saddam Hussein back, some in Chile would like Pinochet back, so I suppose it is not surprising that a few crackpots would like Thatcher back.
Some of the respondents here seem to be rewriting history! She left office with both inflation and unemployment higher than when she came in, she didn't stick to her word (she signed the Maastricht Treaty and the Single European Act), destroyed manufacturing, almost doubled VAT and brought in the detested poll tax. Her belief that there is no such thing as society, only individuals, made a virtue out of selfishness and engendered a lack of respect for the fabric of the country, probably thereby encouraging crime and vandalism.
It would be laughable were it not so sad to read here of Thatcher's sycophants wanting the Tories back to clean up the current financial mess! What mess? Low inflation, unemployment about half of what it was in the early 80's under Thatcher, no recessions or 'Black Wednesdays' in the last ten years, the 4th or 5th strongest economy in the world. There are plenty of good reasons to knock this present government, but financial mess is not one of them!!

We need Maggie back?
The responses here indicate that should the Iron Lady return to the despatch box, we will be polarised in a way that will make the US political scene seem cosy. And that's before she even opens her mouth.
Whether or not her policies are the right thing is immaterial. Thatcher engenders an inordinate amount of vitriol and spite, which could only have a deletrious effect on the UK, regardless of what she actually does.
The UK is no longer in a position where it needed such drastic and dangerous policies. The amount of time passed since she left No. 10 is now several years longer than the time she spent in it and yet we have politicians of all persuasions looking over their shoulder to her, seeking her tacit approval. UK politics, quite simply, needs to move on from the Thatcher years, but without forgetting them.

Not sure about Maggie. She annoyed a lot of people, but really got the job done. But because she didn't mind annoying people, it helped! At the moment though, the £ is very strong, so Blair must be doing one thing right! But I feel the general consensus in the circles I run in is that Labour must go!

This is about the most sick making question I have come across on this forum!
I don't think I have ever felt real hatred for any one before Maggie came on the scene.
I like to watch the Sky Discovery channel on TV there was a very recent re run about the downfall of Maggie, where all her Conservative money robbing, capitalist cronies stabbed her in the back, because even they couldn't stand the bombastic c*w! I watched with glee as she left number 10 in tears, I even recorded it so I can re watch this whenever I'm down in the dumps, it's like a breath of fresh air and a great up lifter.Yipeeeeee (excuse me)
So to sum up I disagree.
Hope this helps?

Agree, Maggie was the UKs greatest peacetime leader and managed to get the UK economy back on its feet after the previous labour government had literally bought the country to its knees.
Unfortunately, blairs labour gov seem hell bent on bankrupting the uk just like other labour regimes and so we desperately need someone sharing maggie's political outlook and calibre to get us out of the financial mess that they inherit when labour finally gets kicked out of office.

Assuming you refer to Maggie Thatcher, we already have her back. She sits and contributes regularly to debates in the House of Lords under the title of Baroness Thatcher, and can be spotted on the BBC Parliament channel.
If you mean we need a fresh decade of IRA bombings, inner-city race riots, civil war between the Police and striking workers attempting to protect themselves and families, millions of people out of work, indigenous industries being destroyed, rampant inflation, local services being constantly cut back or stopped (need I go on?) then I would suggest we don't need her back.

We certainly need someone like her in power. A strong leader who will fight for our own interests. I can't see her tolerating all the PC nonsense that is suffocating us now days. She saved this country from being forced into a stagnant soviet style economy by a bunch of union bully boys, and it is still her legacy that makes the UK the strongest economy in Europe today
