I think that it is best when you are not EXACTLY alike, but share common dreams, morals, desires in life. My husband and I compliment each other. We are different in a lot of ways, he is outgoing and optimistic. I am reserved and pessimistic. He shows me strength and the light at the end of the tunnel. I keep him grounded and in reality. Our differences keep the relationship lively and our common desires keep us striving to reach our goals.

the last person that i fell in love with was my opposite in almost every way...Ive since lost her and thus i will not be ever able to get her back, but i believe that people tend to fall for what is INSIDE the person. The women that ive been friends with, or that ive come to know have fallen for me over a period of time. I am a very genuine person and they see it, sure i have flaws but instead of changing them I work more on my strenghs...Im hoping to fall again but since Shannon Ive never felt that way about another female.

I have recently read in a book "What type am I" and in this book it focuses on several different types of individuals. Check it out! I believe most people virtually fall for your opposites due to several reasons. The different views, interests, etc.and different things visually and mentally appeal to us. Why do some men enjoy the beauty of exotic women or the spontaneous women? Because maybe they seem that they are normal and she is the opposite of them or their interests/normal activity.
Hope this helps!

I think that individuals crave for someone to be enough like him/her that the conversations will be flowing and the feelings towards each other, opinion and otherwise, will be understood. However, no one wants a carbon copy of himself/herself. We need someone we can learn from. It's hard to find a balance between someone who is like yourself, but different enough to subject you to new thoughts and experiences. That's why a lot of people don't have successful relationships; either a person is too much alike or too different--whichever way, it's boring and unfulfilling. The key is balance.

This is really interesting to me. If you notice, many times people who have been together a long time kind of look alike. They have one of more facial features that are alike. I think it's because we subconsciously seek people who look like us.
I also think that long term relationships stay together because people have more in common than not. It might be exciting to be with someone from a different strata of society, but only initially.

Both. Sometimes people go for opposites, get sick of it and end up with similars. Or sometimes people get with similars, get bored of it and go for opposites. Seems popular opinion is opposites, but I haven't always found that true.

It would seem so, and it is said that we find people who have similar features too, but there is the occasional urge for us to find something different from ourselves.
