Your qustion is way too broad, but in short humans are defined as "bipedal hominoids with a large brain". In addition, we're "capable of language, symbolic thought and the use of complex tools". The study of human origins is called paleoanthropology. Based on molecular comparissons of our genome, with the genome of a chimpanzee, we have 99% in common. The oldest fossils of Homo Sapiens date back about 50,000 years. Since this question is indeed too broad, specify if you need info on anything else in particular.

Human evolution is a very controvercial topic.
Controvercial I say because it is a study where the human race came from, some says that we came from apes (scientifical) and some says that we are created by God (biblical). But eventhough that I am a religiuos person and since I am a biology student, I am much at home in the scientific matter. Human evolution is a big challenge because even the scientists are seeking a proof about this subject, until they still showed any real evidence about the evolution.
