I think they are just called bones. It would probably have to be a high class gentleman's outfitters where you would buy them. Could you not make them out of an old white plastic container like a shampoo bottle. You would obviously have to choose a flat bottle of some sort or else the collar would curl out at some amusing jaunty angle! (may start a new fashion trend!)

They are really called Whale Bones as this was what the original ones were made from. Whale Bones were used in women's corsets to make them rigid as well.
