If you care about someone or something so much and something is happening to that said person or thing that is out of your hands, should you continue letting it stress you out and keep trying to help them or it out or should you just let go and accept what is happening and what will ultimately happen to said person or thing?

If you care, try not to let it stress you, that only makes it so you can't think on how to help the person or thing. Yes continue to help the person or thing. You never know what is going to happen until it's all over.

When things are out of your hands, you can be sure of yourself that you did all you could, that you give your 100% to really care. Eventually you would have to get over it and let go so that you can move on. When you try and try one way and anotherone and try some more to help and there is no positive result, then you have to accept that some people don't want to be helped. Some people rather pay a high price for ignorance and stubborness, pride and selfishness. It takes some times a mistake about the size of the world for people to realize that the people who were there to help are not there anymore and they will miss that. That's when some people pull themselves together and start doing something for themselves. People who are for real help with all their heart and you must be realistic of the situation and strong with your mind to do the right thing. Both go hand in hand.

When the said person (or people) are people you love, it is very hard to let it go. I am thankful that I can hand it to God.
