Internal medicine usually refers to a specialty area of health care that deals with general diseases of the body: heart, lungs, glands, digestive system, autoimmune, etc. These specialists are sometimes called General Physicians.

I think you might be looking for a family doctor (or general practitioner) which is the usual first-port-of-call for anyone who is unwell. These doctors usually are good at sorting out if this is something that can be fixed quickly with this or that, or if you need to see a specialist - such as a physician.
