I just can not understand why people feel the need to thumbs down serious questions and answers especially when they just go through and do a thumbs down on every response especially when it is an opinion question we are all entitled to our opinions and unless sexual or rude, or racist in response what is your point stop being so nasty and hateful please

well, truthfully, what is more aggravating is that people don't give more thumbs up! It is like they are afraid someone might get an extra point! But, i get your point!

Good question. It's obvious that you see the potential of Yahoo Answers, and also see that some petty people who hang out here keep it from living up to its potential. I've mulled this over, too, and here's what I figure: if you make a correct, sincere, well-reasoned answer and some juvenile cretin nails you with with a thumbs-down, he or she has just proven you right. I've begun thanking those who give me thumbs-down for proving me right, by editing my answers to express my thanks. You don't want the approval of imbeciles, anyway. Look at thumbs-down as badges of honor.

It may be a tad annoying but you shouldn't take such offense to it...this is not a popularity contest but rather a way of sharing information...even if some people do ask some pretty lame or disgusting questions...I think some of the people who ask certain questions, are just too lazy to do a web search on their own...but in the time that it takes them to type their question, they could have typed the same thing in a search box and found their answer!
