She is obviously not getting enough calories to gain weight. I know someone else on here said don't worry about a lb a month (or something like that), but I do think you should be concerned. I guess it depends on how big babies are, but I think you should check with your pediatrician to see if maybe your baby isn't getting enough fat in her diet (unpopular as fat may be, it is really important for babies to get enough of it for brain and other development). Maybe she needs some kind of rice cereal with milk or something other than jar baby food (which, depending on the type, sometimes is pretty much straight vegetables).

I'm not someone who had big, fat, babies and who thinks they should be that way. My three were all slender (5th percentile weight-wise, but also generally small statured), bottle-fed, babies. They did, though, gain weight and height with every visit to the doctor. My daughter had croup once, and there was a baby in the hospital with her who had failure to thrive; so she was there just to be fed.

I don't mean to seem like I want you to panic, but I don't think you should fool around. If you wait another month to see if she's gained enough weight it could mean she would have gone two months without sufficient growth.

Of course, is there the chance you did something to cause her weight to be measured incorrectly?

These days we hear so much about the evils of fats and carbohydrates and even dairy products, and I don't question that when it comes to older children and adults. I do know, though, that babies need enough carbohydrates, fats, and protein.

If she's eating more baby food she may be drinking less, and if the baby food is mostly vegetables she's essentially putting herself on a little "diet" by trading milk for vegetables.

Anyway, I hope you mention it to your pediatrician to see whether this should be much of a concern right now or whether it would be safe to do something a little different with her diet and wait to see if she gains anything.

You don't mention over what time period she lost a pound but in any case a pound is a lot when they are this little. You are right to be concerned. As a previous poster mentioned, it could be because she is so active now. It also could be that your milk supply is changing because she has started solids. Perhaps she is not getting as much milk. I would suggest taking her into the doctor for a weight check and a chat. They may want to help you get your supply back up or they may suggest feeding her three times a day. It is so hard to figure out what the appropriate amount of food is for these babies! I would suggest nursing more and more and trying to feed an additional meal of solids. Please also speak to a doctor or lactation nurse to make sure everything is ok.

Loosing or gaining pounds is not sorely based on the food we eat. As a 7-month old baby, she is now very active, crawling, trying to stand up on her own, sitting, some physical exercise is what she is doing if you think about it. Maybe, that's the reason why she lost a pound. But don't worry, it's just a pound. Worry if she lost like 5 to 10 pounds a month!..Relax, just continue the feeding process, and the breastfeeding.

Onl.y 14 pounds at 6m, it is not probable that small. i'm thinking the place the counsel is coming from it fairly is inflicting a lot stress, i could wager that that's from somebody it fairly is green. It feels like the toddler isn't waiting for stable meals, purely provide it time. Are you urging the toddler to consume and then the toddler is throwing up? Is it spit up or throw up, there's an excellent distinction. Does the toddler tutor indications of pastime in stable meals, does he/she attempt and grab foodstuff out of your plate? in case you're fairly worried then go and get a 2d opion from yet another surgeon and placed your innovations to ease.
