I am prone to both, and have had both... you think I would be able to tell huh?
The pain started out mildly and started on the whole left side of my urethra area. There is no pain in my lower back or low abdomen, just that area. It does feel like I have to constantly pee, but nothing. I know that it sounds like a textbook UTI/bladder infec. but all the ones I have have had have not felt quite like this one. It was more of an overall pain in the urethra area and more of a burning feeling, than a stabbing feeling like this feels like.

My kidney stone pain has always been UNBEARABLE. Normally I would not be able to type in such pain.

However the thing I'm thinking about is that maybe the stone is small and it's already passed through my bladder/tube, and is just kind of stuck really close to the opening trying to get out (that's what it feels like anyway). Would it be possible not to feel it earlier (w. the back pain and what not), but just feel the end effects of it? Thanks

It's a UTI

Break out the fluids, ural (urinary alkalinisers), cranberry juice and antibiotics.

Have some pain relief

If your stone has gone through your ureters (tube from kidney to bladder) the passage from bladder out (through the URETHRA) is much easier. You usually feel the kidney stone pain as unbearable excruciating pain as it goes down the ureters. Once it enters the bladder, the pain dies down.

first rule out an infection with an at home uti kit. if it is negative- go on a full liquid diet until you pass the stone. (all liquids and cream based soups).all the excess urine will 1) push out the stone and 2) lubricate the urethra making the stone cause less friction and scraping. cranberry juice is good for infections, but if your prone to stones you should actually avoid it, because it is high in oxalates.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
