It's always been like that. A balance of good and bad. That's how the human race is. God knows that we are not robots. He designed us that way. God is that way himself (in his own image and likeness). He knowingly called perverts to religious life and for decades watched them do immoral things to children. God made man in his own image and likeness. Don't let any religion try to hide that from you.
