I recently downloaded RealPlayer, and accidently choosed it to play all of my audio files. Now all of my audio files play through real player..which is a drag because the program is incredibily slow to load. I tried uninstalling realplayer, that worked, and the files opened through windows media player as I want them to, but when I installed realplayer again, it went back to playing specifically through them. I don't use realplayer but a lot of websites require it so I have it in my computer. Any idea on how I could change the settings back?

Open the media player you prefer, find tools or preferences tab and look for the setting to choose it to be the universal player.
You can also go to Start-> Set Program Access and Defaults, select custom and then choose which player you want to be the default. Click OK.
Another way, open RealPlayer and maximize the window, click on Tools, then preferences and click media types. From here choose to manually configure media types for RealPlayer. From here you can choose what types you want RealPlayer to open. Restart your computer to set the settings.

Be wary of using Quicktime as the main player especially if you are using IE7 because you could wind up getting some of the bugs that others are experiencing with these two programs. Watch for the Q with a ? where a video view should be. There is little to no help or support for this problem.

I had the same issue...

After they are both installed on the system open the program that you want to USUALLY open the file. When you do it should ask you if you want to make that program the "default program" click yes.

Be careful when you re-open Real because it will ask you again if you want to make that your default palyer.
