Yep. heard the bad news on the tv the other day...How someone left poor domesticated bunnys on the side of the road, and without the swift aid of John P. Dogooder they would have perished, unable to fend for themselves...
The thing that really got me was they discussed how if the offender was caught he would have been .....fined / imprisioned /beaten with a rubber hose ...Whatever ...should this person be fined??? should the rabbits have to repay their former owner room and board.???? Just curious???

Oh no I can top that one, in my state 2 years ago someone beat a puppy, set it on fire, put it in a bag and threw the bag out their car window(no sh*t some psycho really did this) Someone saw them do it and found the pup out and the person went to jail. Anyone who abuses animals diserves to go to jail...

When a person takes on the responsibility of a pet, and the term domesticated bunnys leads me to that conclusion, then they should be fined for dumping them along a road. Rabbits will eat vegetation, as we all know, but if they've been raised as pets in cages, how will they know to protect themselves from mean people or vicious animals, or for that matter, to find food in the winter? They've been petted and coddled and fed pelleted alfalfa since the get go and pardon me, but I haven't seen a plant growing those little goodies in some long time! The person that dumped them, as should the guilty parties that dump any dog, cat or other pet, should be fined for not taking them to the local shelter to be adopted or finding them a new home. But, unfortunately in this instance, rubber hoses went out with Miranda.

If someone takes in an animal, they are committing to the responsibility of taking care of that animal, and any offspring as well. It's irresponsible and cruel to dump animals off somewhere because they become a burden. A new home should have been found. If they put the animals' lives at risk, they should definitely be fined for animal cruelty.
