Think about your boss in his underwear. No really, make what he said your challenge. Just let yourself get angry enough and then prove to him that he is not going to stand in your way. And don't take him too seriously. He's not the judge of you.

Most people who feel the need to rip others down are doing so because they themselves lack confidence. Think about it. Essentially what your boss has done is create a worker who feels unable to do his job confidently. By not thinking through his actions, he's actually hurt himself AND you! Be proud of your ability to identify that the encounter hurt you. You're intelligent enough to seek out support when things go wrong. I bet thats not something your boss is able to do!

Well I have a job where I have to deal with people and sometimes people are just not nice at all.Sometimes people when they are not having a good day take it out on you. I take time in the morning and take like 20 minutes for meditation to try to deal with the day ahead of me. When that does not work I take it out in kick boxing classes and try to picture that rude customer on my punching bag. Find someway a release some stress and get back out there. Give your boss coal for Christmas lol. I hope you feel better!

Try to keep in mind that in such situations the person who was made to feel the rottenest tends to hang onto the incident far longer than the other person does.
Gather confidence from the novelty of talking to people you don't know (customers) and getting your mind off the incident. Make up your mind that the customers are not he, and appreciate them more for that.

excellent question. it is 4 am in the morning. and then i promise to go to bed. one more good deed. an answer you deserve. it is a tough question. it all depends on your very sensitive nature -- how sensitive you are in responding to your boss or fact of life ( i had a boss who not only killed the initiatives of his employees, he crushed them -- i still wonder if he had humanity in him) but back to your fair question. it is possible to go back to normal if you are able to turn off "your sensitivity" it takes time and training. we are all human and do not come as "a package deal" and no one makes exception to the rule except for top leaders born into the ruling junta. a prince charles for example would have been devasted had it not been for his rich entourage -- as to the social and psychological problems he encountered during his brief marriage. yet, he stood up because of his training and support of his entourage. we are not all that lucky. we have to train ourselves. your job is to smile and to forget the bad moments prior to the smile. number one your boss is a nut in giving you trouble despite the fact that he knows you need that smile. but people being people u find all kinds. my advice, is train, train, train yourself. and good food helps too with supplements of vitamine. and good luck should be on your side pocket.
ps. i carry in my heart an outlet towards the "maker"...and it is my real strength.

My husband is a boss and he has a boss! So remember that...everyone has someone to answer to! And sometimes it's all just constructive criticism...grin and bear it! KISS ASSSSS...I'm telling you, yes it will get you everywhere. Right or wrong...that's just the truth. Grin and bear it, yes ma'm and yes sir. You are valueable to them or else you WOULD NOT be there!

Never allow your boss or anyone to undermine you. Tell them to their face that you do know yourself better than them and it doesn't matter whether they think the best of you or not.
