For all of the reasons listed above, and because by owning my own business from home, I control my destiny. There is no cap on my salary, I have unlimited income. I am paid in direct proportion to the amount of work I do. Then there's the tax benefits of being self-employed, which if for no other reason, everyone needs a home business.
I have also created leverage as well as residual income, so if I cannot work one day, I still get paid and my business keeps growing.

1. You become your own boss (you polish your self-leadership, self-motivation, self-discipline skills)
2. You effort is directly proportional to the returns you get. (so you can in a way get a bonus every day you work, this is not only satisfying but it makes you keep focused. I sometimes hate that at my job I bring in a million a day and at the end of the you calculate you find that a quarter of that is given out to employees annually).
3. You have more time to yourself. (you can either use this time to study, be with your family or to introspect..depends on what you like.
On the downside, I sometimes feel working from home minimizes a person's chances of networking. Looking at the fact that a good percentage of people one knows you met them through learning opportunities or at work.

I would like to be able to work from home so I could be around my children. Also, on cold, snowy mornings, it would be nice to have the office inside my house! Bbrrrr...
