Some of the most recognized music award events in america include Grammy, Billboard, MTV and American Music Awards. But could you list them in the order of importance/popularity. Which one is biggest in scale? For movie awards, as an example, the academy awards is the recognized and biggest event.

What about in music? Please list them in order.

GRAMMY - it's the equivalent of Oscar in music. The award is based on the artistic content of the album/single although it is still influenced by commercial success of the album/singles.

Billboard Award is based on commercial success/billboard charts performance and MTV awards are just plain trash.

It depends upon the regional area in which you live or what it to be considered... actually the biggest is the World Music Awards that just took place in London. Out of the list mentioned it depends upon your aim.

The Billboard and Grammy's are probably the must serious ones and are considered by the industry to be the heavy hitters or whatever.
Then probably the American music awards if you live in American, but are you non-American it would be the MTV since everyone is able to receive it.

Grammy's are peer recognition by people who know what you have to do to put out your sound. I think they are #1. The other stuff is a measure of your commercial success. You already know how you did there by the bulge in your wallet. The other 3 are just fluff.
