It is a view too simplified and naive to be of any practical benefit.
No disgruntled person would agree with this view.... it is mainly fostered by those who are reasonably satisfied and want to take credit for the same. If I find my life is not quite palatable and on top of that, I am told that it is just my way of thinking or even that it is so due to my own making, I would be damned if I were to agree.
All said and done, events in our life are more governed by the circumstances and other people's actions and reactions than brought about on our own....... none of us has much of a control on own life. Success is valued precisely because it is not as simple as if it were just our own making. The successful can not be given as much credit as we naively do.
When faced with adversity, we should neither blame others nor ourselves ...... we should merely look forward to find solutions and redresses.

You know why mankind is so wonderful because we fight all the elements right wrong or indifferent to reach our goals no matter if it is meant to be or not. And that is why it is a good portion what we make of it. It takes all kinds of things to make this world and all types of people. But as we see every step we take makes a difference even if it is the wrong steps we will still try and make it up or make it right even when we are wrong. So who knows?
The Shadow.

Life given by nature or God is all the same for every living being at birth. We are driven by our own inborn nature and circumstances. We make or break our life. Had we continue our inborn nature of love, compassion and contentment we would not get into problems.

Life is definitely what you make of it. Our backgrounds and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
