Does anybody know what these little items were for?

They have no real purpose, just like the tissues. There were rumors floating around (and still are) that if you collect 34 of them Aeris will come back to live or you have have Sephiroth on your team or Zack, none of which are true.

I have been in Angels Stadium, Dodger Stadium, Yankee Stadium, Petco Park and whatever the name is of that sauna in Miami in Red Sox gear. Everyone treats you with respect/ignores you, except the Yankee fans. There is just too much history there. It makes it fun. As for your experience, I could never understand why a Yankee fan would show up at Fenway for a Red Sox--Tigers game in Yankee gear. Wear Tiger gear for Heaven's sake. Of course you are going to be the most loathed person in the park. Actually wearing a Yankee hat in the City of Boston is not the brightest of moves as a general matter.

i thought those items have no use what so ever in the game. it's a useless collections.
i don't recall reading the use of that items on any gamefaqs or walkthroughs...but i might be wrong though

when you collect them all, go to the battle arena in the golden saucer, play and beat the hardest battle, you either get sephiroths sword which you cant use(its just collectable)
or you might get omni slash limit break
i dont remember if this is exactly right , but it sounds about right

Check out some of the walkthorughs on Gamefaqs.com. Thats where I go for all my videos games when i can't figure something out.

i was pretty sure it did nothing. and that is correct. i checked gamefaqs to verify: it does nothing.
