They have similar meanings but not exactly the same. Fate tends to mean something bad, destiny can be either.

Meeting someone special? It can happen.

There are three possibilities when you meet someone you're attracted to:

1) It's just lust, which is fine, just don't mistake it for love.

2) "Negative compatibility", relationships where one person dominates and the other's personality just disappears. Nasty but happens too often. No respect involved at all.

3) Real love, which requires the two people have similar goals for the future, similar attitudes to life and children. Mutual respect. True love isn't necessarily instantaneous, it can grow.

I met my wife 24 years ago, we knew we were right after having gone out together twice. We just clicked perfectly. We do disagree about things but we almost never have major arguments because we agree about the important things.

Life can be good if you choose the right person, and there is more than one person who will suit you. It's a matter of meeting a lot of frogs and finding out which one is the prince.

I believe the two are different. You can make your own destiny, by the choices u make in your life. Fate is something that is meant to happen, u can't change fate.

I think they are synonymous.
However, both of them infer a loss of control of the individual to an unknown force. I would rather be the one in control of my future.
A good quote from Thomas Edison......
“Good fortune is what happens when opportunity meets with planning.”

3. that which is inevitably predetermined; destiny: Death is our ineluctable fate.
4. a prophetic declaration of what must be: The oracle pronounced their fate.
5. death, destruction, or ruin.
6. the Fates, Classical Mythology. the three goddesses of destiny, known to the Greeks as the Moerae and to the Romans as the Parcae.
–verb (used with object) 7. to predetermine, as by the decree of fate; destine (used in the passive): a person who was fated to be the savior of the country.

i don't believe in fate or destiny. i think it all depends on your decision, not on what is "supposed to" happen.
