I was average in school (decided to party instead of study), although I did excel in math. I've been out of school for 7 years and I'm going to start Junior College with being a psychiatrist as a long term goal. My family doesn't hesitate in saying that I'm smart enough to do it. I just don't know, I'm confident but then it intimidates me. The only mental exercise I've had lately was 6 years ago, when I completed a 2 year Avionics Technician course in 3 months.

I don't believe anyone can honestly evaluate your intellectual competence here. If you can make it to class, you'll probably pass as lax as standards are these days. Also, psychiatrists aren't specialists, they're basically drug pushers with a thousand different opinions. You will need to pay attention in the Biochemistry area though. It's okay for your patients to die slowly, but if they die too quickly, you might get penalized.

If all you want to do is make money without actually having to do anything that anyone benefits from, then psych is great as long as you don't mind that some people's lives will be ruined.

However, if you're interested in making money while HELPING people then be a REAL DOCTOR! -or- an Avionics Technician! - It sounds like you were definitely intellectually ready for that!

I'm obviously very biased on your potential career path. But, simply to answer your question: if you show up, you'll probably pass.

If you are doubting yourself, I might suggest that you might not be doubting yourself, you're just remembering when others have doubted you. Can you think of a time when that has happened to you? My advice: Be yourself!

If you put your mind to it, you're capable of anything! Use this time to do mental exercises and you can also try a detox for your body's energy revival. Thats all you need to into gear like any other student.

The fact that you have not studies in years doesn't make you any less intelligent instead it gives you the advantage of knowing yourself better and what you really what for your future..so you will be even more focused that your classmates.

Don't waste your time focused on the ABC's of failure (accuse, blame and complain).

All the best. (Go to your destiny)
