Limewire's almost as bad as Kazaa now...

Basically what everyone else said is right, it's not the program itself that will get you the virus, it's what you download.

Keep an eye out for mismatched file sizes. A 5 minute long 128 kbps mp3 file shouldn't be 124 KB big... And it shouldn't be more than, say, 10 MB, either.

Limewire is a peer2peer sharing network... YES!!! you will get viruses from DOWNLOADING from other users......since you don't know them and where they come from.....have a GOOD ANTI VIRUS in place prior to downloading....lots, lots, lots of triojans and worms there just waiting for you download them....thinking you are getting a file that you want.....only to find out when you do there is a worm or trojan attached....I know this to be true................................cause I have another pc down right now from a trojan that installed A boot sector virus....that locked my hard drive and i have to NUKE the disc to get it back up and that means losing about 3000 limewire downloads.....and pics...BE VERY CAREFUL!!!!

there is yet differently which has helped me many circumstances - seek for the filesize. an excellent type of the stuff I have tried to seek utilising limewire has a "lookalike" document that's an outbreak mostly. if you're searching for for a music, seek for a filesize of more beneficial than a million MB... stay away from ones which seem as if 157.8K, 887.5K and so on - something less than a million MB. well-known MP3 songs should be everywhere above a million.5MB and better, reckoning on the dimensions of the music (time of play). videos are a lot more beneficial. application records, till you comprehend the dimensions, or you comprehend what you're searching for, do not acquire. And definite, that's good to keep your antivirus software as a lot as date. Oh, and definite, its unlawful to acquire copyrighted fabric (MP3s, videos, and so on.) utilising limewire or by any skill.

limewire doesn't have adware or spyware, so you won't get a virus once you download it. the only way you would get a virus is by downloading shady files on the server from other users.

As long as you Right-click the file/song and click SCAN or SCAN FOR VIRUSES first! Do this 'every single time' you download 'anything' BEFORE you click on it and Open it/Play it, just rightclick it. Scan it for viruses and you'll never ever get one this way. A virus from a download can not do anything UNTIL you click it and open it or just start playing it before scanning it.
