first one - $28.49/7=$4.07
second one - you didn't give us the options but the other three crates have to add up to 165

28.49 divided by 7 (days in the week) = 4.07

If there are 6 crates weighing on average 61 pounds then 61*6=366

The crates where the weight is given weigh altogether 192 pounds.

366 (the total weight) less 192 (the weight we know) = 174

So the three remaining crates weigh 174 or an average of 58 pounds each (174 divided by 3=58)

So the three crates could be 56m 58, 60 or any other combination which adds up to 174.

Good luck

The total weight of the crates is 6 x 61 = 366. Therefore the other 3 crates must weigh 366-72-59-70=165. That's how you get the answer the previous poster has said.

Its more important to know how to do it then to be able to just answer this one question.

To find an average you must divide the amount by the days in a week. i.e. 28.49 / 7 = 4.07 per day.

Ask your teacher to explain it to you in more detail during the break maybe. By us giving you the answer will not help you in the long run.

If the cost over n periods is C, then the average cost per period is C/n

Using the above in reverse, if the average of n units is A, the total for n units is n*A. Subract from this the weights you know to get the remaining weights.
