Everyone does! Were only human...But are you really the blame, or are you just feeling bad? We all can think of a million "ifs", if we permit ourselves to think long enough on one thing. This is an example-but to the extreme-let's say your best friend committed suicide, and you later felt you could of helped her, because you were her best friend. That is not totally true because your not in charge of your friends happiness, and you may not have been aware she was even going to do it. Playing the blame game gets you no where, it's done, and over, and in the past-move on. I am sure you didn't do it in vain.

no. i do not blame myself. there is some other link that bothers me -- that i could have done things differently. that i should have done things differently. in those two cases -- both are "me" --yet there is no blame but regrets. now, if i understand well --you make a decision and along the way it goes "astray" -- is this because of you or because of outside events out of your own control. that is the real question. hope the asker will see clearer after he/she reads this answer and understands its meaning. good question in both cases.
