Ethylene glycol. Bad for the inner works. Now being replaced in some cars by propylene glycol which is much less toxic. Methanol was used until the 1930s and calcium chloride was used in the 1900. Screenwasher antifreeze is mainly methanol.

If I was you I would google it. But, figure out which kind you're talking about. There are at least three main types used in automotive. The "green" anti-freeze (very common) is mainly Ethylene Glycol. The "red" anti-freeze (long life, very common in 2000 and up) is Propylene Glycol. There is a "purple" used in commercial diesel applications, but I'm unsure what's in it. I'm also sure that different manufactures put in different additives, and if it's pre-mix, it already has water in it.
