When the Clintons were running for President, the liquor industry backed both parties while the tobacco industry backed the opposition. That is why Hillary made a public health campaign out of demonizing tobacco use even though it costs the public 1/10 th of what alcohol does. The left, with no Vietnam to snivel over, picked up the ball and continues to run with it even though liquor and cars kill more people than smokes and guns.

Umm...because we have institutions that tell people what is actually bad for them. Let me put it this way. Let's say you are in Pakistan where smoking tobacco is not a big deal. Why? Because big companies can pay the government under the table, and there is squat that a little man who gets cancer from false advertising can do. Generally, there is little to no warnings given during the advertising of tobacco products in those countries. Why? Because nobody freaking cares about what happens to your health. In America, we have protections for such things. THe little guy has, however small, voice. He can freakin sue the cigerette company if they did not tell him that tobacco can cause cancer. Consequently, all the government officials want to come out as saying that they want to make Americans' lives better -- what better way than to discourage tobacco...that causes cancer.r

It's not the only country that freaks out about it. Some countries freak out even more. Bhutan for example has banned the sale of tobacco and public smoking in the country.

1st of, America is not a country. And if you're pointing towards the United States and asking the question. Well then, it's because the United States does research and experiments to protect their citizens from harm. Tobacco is indeed very harmful to the human body. Thus we "freak out" about people smoking.

Because we have a very advanced healthcare system which is overburdened with people who cause their own problems. Smoking is a big reason for this.

Because people in America can't mind their own freakin' business! I SMOKE CIGARETTES! IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, TOO FREAKIN' BAD! I don't smoke near non smokers. I'm very polite about it, and some moron will still make it their business to walk over to me and tell me I'm killing myself! HEY, GUESS WHAT? IT'S NOT ILLEGAL! YOU KNOW WHAT I DON'T LIKE? PEOPLE WHO HAVE TO SHARE THEIR OPINIONS WITH ME WHEN I OBVIOUSLY DON'T WANT TO HEAR THEM. I won't even throw my cigarette out of my car window. I have total respect for other people. They have none for me. I"M NOT A LEPER! Also, when I'm smoking, DON"T STARE, THAT'S RUDE!
