Just a guess:

Magazines: Reader's Digest, Ladies Home Journal, National Geographic, Prevention

TV: Grey's Anatomy, The View, Oprah, and anything on the Lifetime Channel

Heck, there may be some way cool folks in that age group who watch South Park and read High Times, for all we know.

Well, I'm 51, so I can at least tell you what *I* watch :-) Presently, my two favorite shows are Grey's Anatomy and CSI. I also watch a lot of PBS stuff - I particularly like Nova (can you tell I'm a bit of a science geek??). As far as I'm concerned, Oprah, the "We" channel, and Lifetime are absolutely insipid; they're a good way to put your brain to sleep on a permanent basis.

As to magazines - I like Scientific American, Native Peoples (I'm Cherokee/Choctaw/Chickasaw), Time, National Geographic Magazine, Smithsonian Magazine, the Mensa Bulletin (I'm a member of Mensa), and Log Home Living (as I'm hoping to build a log home in Washington state). What I DON'T like are all those stupid "women's magazines" that you see at the checkout counter - I think they're intended for people with an IQ smaller than their shoe size; I know for certain that they're boring beyond belief! I don't know if I'm typical or not, but those are my personal preferences - hope that gives you a bit of the information you need.

Good news does not sell newspapers and low distribution count does not sell advertising and advertising is the life line of the news papers. Also, misery loves company and people working forty hours a week in a boring job are miserable. If people read only good news they would be influenced to be happy and happy people would not buy tons of stuff that they think, just might, make them a little happy with their situation. The retail industry would become merely a shadow of itself. The stock market would crash and people would be out of jobs and be unhappy. So, we are unhappy and working at boring jobs to prevent us from losing our jobs and being unhappy because we would not have any money to buy stuff that we think might make us happy. Take your choice of reasons to be unhappy. Hey ! HEY ! Stop the world. I want to get off. I recommend that all of you go find yourselves a Fritter Ranch some place and get a bunch of animals that you can herd out to your own South Pasture where you can complain to them. They will pay attention to you and you will feel a lot better about everything. I have one nanny goat that kinda acts like she doesn't care but she's just an old goat ,like me.

I fall in that age group, and I watch the News, Discovery, and "House" and "Monk". Those are my favorites. I sometimes watch Home and Garden, but it depends on my mood. I am a very creative person, and like to know what is going on in the world. I am also non traditional...I am a student at the University here, so I am constantly learning...The body may be going to 'you know where', but the mind is still sharp...give us old folks a break...learning is FUN!!!!
