DO NOT START THE CAR AND THEN REMOVE THE POS LEAD FROM THE BATTERY. THIS WILL FRY YOUR ALTERNATOR DIODES FOR SURE. BEST BET IS TO TAKE THE DAMN ALTERNATOR OUT AND TAKE IT TO A PARTS HOUSE AND HAVE IT TESTED. MOST PARTS HOUSES WILL DO THIS FOR FREE. SOUNDS AS IF THE ALTERNATOR IS JUNK. BE SURE TO CHANGE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR IF IT IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE ALTERNATOR, AS IT MAY BE THE REASON THE ALTERNATOR WENT BAD TO BEGIN WITH. MOST MANUFACTURERS WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR EQUIPMENT IF YOU DO NOT CHANT THE REGULATOR TOO.

I'd check the alternator. Have the car jumped. After the car has run for a few minutes, disconnect the battery while the car is still running. If it stalls, it is probably the alternator. If it still runs, probably something else.

Since you have a new battery (unless you were sold a dud), probably your car is not charging. There is an indicator light for charging-if it stays lit, then it is not charging. Or maybe you have a gauge (ammeter or voltmeter) in the car. It should register on the positive side. Have your car checked.

if its a new battery, then chances are your alternator is bad.

Have a local shop test your alternator. THey can also recharge your battery, dont think youll need to buy another battery

My van did that and it was the alternator. It's not too expensive to fix yourself, if you know what you are doing or someone who could help.
