Probably the first export from the americas was hide (commerce). Due to all the trapping done in the 1600's and the 1700's. exports were sent from the colonies in the new world back home to Europe.

Then slavery took hold and plantations sprang up. Once plantations were up, Tabacco became the beggest export with the help of Native American's and a little later on cotton.

This is just a guess. I believe it would be cotton. Next could be tobacco, then Buffalo skins. There are a lot of possibilities.
