By flop musicals, I mean musicals that did REALLY badly. Not just shows that were big, but didn't make that much money AKA Sunset Boulevard.

By Flops, I mean things like:
Carrie
Lolita, My Love
Kelly
etc..

Steven W- Rocky Horror is hardly a flop! It has been running in many forms for 30 something years! Everyone loves it, everyone at some point participates in it.
I'm not sure how you are defining "flop".

I think Carrie is the best example of a real flop.

Annie2 - and, of course, the infamous Shroud of Turin musical, "Into the Light."

bubba - LOL - I'm one of the 47 people who actually saw "Breakfast at Tiffanys" many years ago with Mary Tyler Moore in Philadelphia. I don't know why it is considered so awful - LOL - I remember enjoying it thoroughly. LOL

Another musical which I loved but flopped is the musical version of Truman Capote's "The Grass Harp" with the incandescent Barbara Cook.

Sondheim's "Anyone Can Whistle" closed after 3 performances because the orchestra parts were insanely hard. (Shocker!) Does that count as a flop?

My vote goes to:

Batman: The Musical
by Jim Steinman (writes Meatloaf's songs)

I don't know if its ever been performed anywhere yet, but I sure hope it never does

Certainly some valid answers here, and I won't add any. I will however suggest one that still rolls on in live theater as well as film, has become a cult classic, and likely has had more viewers, and participants, than any other show in modern history.

"Rocky Horror Picture Show"
