Taxes

What Happened?
At first I thought this was funny...
then I realized the awful truth of it.
Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries, then
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ***

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me

COMMENTS: Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago,
and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class
in the world, and Mom could always stay home to raise the kids.
What happened?

The Congressional Budget Office, which is an independent govermmental office subject to Congressional oversight--meaning that until January it is under Republican control--determined that we are on a continuing and increasing shortfall between spending and taxes. The Bush Administration has been content to charge the cost of the war against terror. The war against terror is probably the most important undertaking of the Bush Administration, but the President has been unable to ask Congress to pay for it, and it is expensive. The Democrats can be expected to roll back some of the more controversial tax cuts, like the repeal of the estate tax and the rate reductions on the highest brackets. As it is, the estate tax does not apply to estates smaller than $3.25 million after 2009.

Homeland security a new agency was created under
Bush and a republican congress. So far we've spent $348,547,142,771.00 in this "war". Social security is going to crash and NEITHER party wants to do anything
about it. That is a HUGE social program that many people count on. In fact some people believe it may crash our financial markets when it happens..

$8,658,259,077,353.72 is what our national debt is.
the estimated population of the United States is 300,415,987
so each citizen's share of this debt is $28,820.90.

So yeah something will hit the fan. I think once we stop this "war" it won't be as bad. But it is pretty likely that we will have to raise taxes although just the basic items will probably be paid for. You need to realize too that Republican and Democrat mean nothing anymore. They are both bureaucrats interested in giving themselves pay raises and increasing the amount we the people owe.

If you are interested in cutting taxes I recommend you vote and get a libertarian in office.

Have you checked lately how astronomical our debt is? Dem's will want a balanced budget, so they'll increase it enough to pay that off and then maybe a little more for education so that people aren't so ignorant that they think not having taxes will somehow grant you billions to bomb innocent civilians with.

I hope the democrats abolish every last one of George W. Bush's Tax cuts. I'm the only one of my friends who benefit from them anyway.

You should pay equal or more taxes on stock dividends. I pay significantly less in tax on those than money earned with a job.

Maybe it was necessary to help repair the economy post-9/11. But seriously why should the government tax the poor hard working man MORE than the non-working stock holding millionaire...makes no sense!

Taxes made America the only superpower and the Democrats will create more taxes.

Don't worry about it too much. I think they are only going to raise the taxes of Republicans. ROFL
Seriously they need to raise taxes some to restore care to our elderly, poor, and educate our children.

If you're middle class....you have nothing to worry about. Only republicans steal from the middle class.
