Ok, lets set this straight. The equator is an IMAGINARY line around the center of the earth. you can be standing right on it and it just looks like the land around it! The Great Wall of China is the only MAN-MADE OBJECT that can be seen from space without using binoculars or a telescope. There are many references for this. The web site below gives documentation. You can do a web search for "man-made objects visible from space. Oh, and the astronauts have said they can see the Great Wall.

umm....u know, it's just a myth that the great wall of China is the only manmade object visible from space. in reality, many human constructions can be seen from earth's orbit. astronauts can see highways, airports, dams and even large vehicles from an earth orbit thats around200 km high. and cities are clearly distinct from surrounding countryside, and that's true even at about 400 km up.
and with binoculars, an whole lot of things can be seen(pyramids, roads, harbors)
There are of course places in space(moon) from which you can't make out manmade features on the
as for the great wall of China, it's less visible than a lot of other objects.

I think that depends on many factors like the distance from earth and the climatic conditions, on the worst time you may just see the white artic snow caps, brown/green land mass and the large blue ocean.
If you are nearer to earth then you may see structures that are large, like the Pyramids, or even Great Wall of China.

there are lot of objects visible from the space on earth, much of it depends how far in space are you viewing from.
the two objects distinguishly visible from the earth orbit are
1. the great wall of china
2. pyramids of giza.
Shuttle astronauts can see highways, airports, dams and even large vehicles from an Earth orbit that is about 135 miles (217 kilometers) high. Cities are clearly distinct from surrounding countryside, and that's true even from the higher perch of the International Space Station, which circles the planet at about 250 miles (400 kilometers) up. .....

great wall of china was perceived to be a man made object that could be seen from space, but recently that perception was disproved....so, apart from oceans, and a bit of land mass which can be seen through all the atmospheric cover, I would guess nothing else can be seen

you can't see the great wall of china from space. think about it. the great wall of china is never any wider than say an average 6 lane highway in the united states, and yet we cant see those from space. you can see the great coral reef of australia from space, and you can see polar ice caps from space. no truely man made item can be seen from space, except large cities and etc...
