Dear Mom/Dad. With a 21 year-old son you've got to be around 40 something. In your 40 years, have you ever been able to make somebody do something they didn't want to do? You have no legal power over your son. He can sue you if you physically restrain him. I have a nephew that began drugs at age 20 and continued for 7 years. Right now, hopefully, he is clean and has been for about a year. Will he stay clean? I pray for him every day. He had to recognize that he needed help. His family was there to help him when he asked for it. Be there for him, support him and love him. And pray for him. Legally, there's nothing else you can do. I pray for you.

Sadly, there is nothing you can do -- EXCEPT to change the locks and make sure that you are protected.
Now that he is LEGALLY an Adult -- he CAN and does have to take the RESPONSIBILITIES and CONSEQUENCES of every Decision he makes in life -- and this means when those so-called 'friends' that he moved in with are arrested and/or commit crimes in the residence -- then he, too, may have to learn a hard lesson.

No, you can't. He's over 18- he's an adult. Sadly there is nothing you can do legally. You can try to reason with him, but if he's moving in with drug and alcohol abusers it sounds like he's beyond reasoning with you.
I'd report the place to the authorities and let them take over from there.

if they are drug abusers, tell your son to go out for a while, and report the others to the police. They get arrested, and your son comes back.
just a suggestion that is probably way to farfetched to ever happen. but hey, last resort, eh?

Unfourtanately(sp??) there is nothing you can do to make him come home. You could call the cops to try and bust him...but you have to let him make his own mistakes.

i think you would need 2 or 3 doctors letters saying he is mentally incompetent. you may have to let him learn on his own
