You don't have to beat the Powder Keg challenge again. As Goron Link, you can buy them from the goron in Clock Town's bomb shop for 50 Rupees

I'm afraid you'll have to beat the Snowhend Temple again but since you've done it alreay, it's a much shorter trip for two reasons. Firstly, you can skip the pre-dungeon search for the song and secondly, when you enter the tenmple, a warp will appear that will take you straight to the boss.

Now defeat the temple and then hand in your first sword for modification. Win the goron race to get some gold dust while this is being done. Be sure that you have an empty bottle otherwise you won't get it.

Once you have the gold dust and your sword has been modified, give the sword back to him as well as the gold dust and then wait another night. You'll now have the Gilded sword, which won't break and won't vanish if you play the song of time.

If you're still having trouble, there's a couple f variations of the Song of Time that can help you. Firstly, if you play the song backwards (Inverse song of time... Down, A, Right, Down, A, Right) you can slow the flow of time by half, giving you twice as much time to do things. It's a good idea to get into the habbit of slowing time at the beginning of each first day. The second is to play each note twice (Song of double time... Right, Right, A, A, Down, Down) You can fast forward to the next dawn/dusk. This is useful to speed up the waiting process for the sword.

Hope I've been of some help

Yes, pretty much what the guy above me said, kudos to you dude. But he left out that you have to have the razor sword before you upgrade to the Gilded Sword! (I COPIED THIS FROM http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/n64/file/zelda_majoras_mask_o.txt)

Mountain Smithy

These guys can upgrade your Kokiri Sword to a Razor Sword
for 100 Rupees, but it will also cost a whole night. You can
get it back in the morning. They can also upgrade your Razor
Sword to a Gilded Sword, but this will cost you some Gold
Dust and another night. Their furnace is frozen in the
winter, so you'll have to defeat Goht before visiting them
anyway.
