Well, we have to maintain a balance. Homeostasis is maintained by keeping things in balance. We don't only lose water through urine, but also in our feces, sweat, breath, saliva and tear ducts. We urinate out waste products. We need so much water to flush toxins out of our kidneys and to keep all our cells hydrated. We need so much water to replace all the water lost in our breath and through sweating. Although the colon reabsorbs much of the water from our food and digestive system, a lot is lost in our feces as well.

Life is defined to be a self sustaining series of chemical reactions. It is similar to combustion in the sense both processes consume fuel and produce energy. The difference is that life produces chemical energy and fire produces heat and light energy. Water is simply a chemical, not a chemical reaction. It will react with many things, but pure water is inert, neutral and there is no chemistry taking place at all. It just so happens that life depends on water molecules for structural support, and also many reactions either consume or produce water. In this sense water is a little like the air inside a balloon. The air isn't really the balloon itself, but it gives the balloon a shape and allows balloons to do all the things balloons do.

The process that take place in our body need water, like digestion and respiration. and like what you said, we will get rid of the water as urine. and when we get rid of water as urine, the amount of water in our body will reduce. Moreover, when we perspire, the water in our body is lost too. In order to replenish the water we lost daily, we need to drink a lot of drink.

about 72% of the body mass is water
we need water for many purposes
In digestion of food.
Water is lost from the body in urine and feces, through sweating, and by exhalation of water vapor in the breath.
To function properly, the body requires between one and seven litres of water per day to avoid dehydration.
