DO you pronounce it "Jesus-ses" mother .... or just Jesus mother. / just talking about the pronounciation.

I do believe it is 'Jesus-es' mother.

* If you write Jesus's, you would pronounce the added syllable.

* If you write Jesus', you pronounce it the same as Jesus.
The whole purpose of doing it this way IS to avoid adding the extra syllable when it is awkward. See below.

* When speaking, I personally would say "Jesus's mother Mary" so it is clearly possessive. But in writing I would use the proper form "Jesus' mother Mary."

To form the possessive of a singular noun that ends in an "s" sound, be guided by the way the word is pronounced. If a new syllable is formed in the pronunciation of the possessive, add an apostrophe plus "s."
