Living here on the Oregon coast for many, many years, I can tell you that it snows about 1-2 days a year. Then the snow is usually 1-2 inches. If we want to play in the snow, it's a short drive into the hills (about 3000 feet high usually) and can have enough snow for a few weeks at a time to make a snowman or go sledding. If you want to find out what the road conditions are throughout the state - visit tripcheck.com. That way you can see what the roads are like year-round. We get far more rain than snow on the coast so it's worse to have slides. And the summer is PACKED with construction projects that slow things down.

Best time to visit - October! It's still very warm, the kids are back in school, most of the road construction is finished and the roads are clean and dry.

When I am sick of Winter (cold and snow), I hit the coast from Victoria (Canada) to Oregon coast ... if I have many days. Basically, if it snow ... it will be mainly in the nights and it will melt quickly in the day time. Exception occurs as well.

Winter is not a good season to walk barefoot on the beaches as the water is very cold. It seems a very cloudy and rainy season as well but getting out of the snow ... I frequently hit the coasts.

Yes, it does but it's nothing compared to the east coast. What little they get now and then usually does not block roads. It does gets icy through out winter so it 's not the best time of year to be running around for the heck of it.
The best time? Summer of course. The 101 scenic route is great for cruising and ther are many places to stop for attractions from kite festivals, sand dunes, sea lion cave etc.

Coastal areas don't really get a lot of snow, the warm ocean air currents keep it from getting cold enough.

Quite often when it gets cold enough. Icy roads as well.

June and July are usually good months for a visit.
