I have had so many pets come and go over the years so I have a lot of experience with this. The easiest way without too much hassle is to slowly introduce the pets to each other, don't force them to be around one another for long periods of time. Take the dog into the room (or wherever) on a leash, and just sit with the dog, make sure he doesn't make any sudden movements or the cats will take longer to get used to the dog. If the cats are hissing and swatting at the dog, you should let them know it is wrong (scolding is OK), but don't spank them for it! If the dog is with you make sure he feels safe and calm by petting him, this will help ease the process along. (or petting the cats) Never leave the pets all alone with each other until enough time has passed that they all seem calm around one another!
PS: If you try getting the pets in the same place while your there and do this at least twice every day, it should take no longer than 2-2 1/2 weeks for them to all get used to each other! Hope this helps!

it is very important that your cats feel dominate as they are he long term residents always ensure they have a means of escape from the dog. Dogs are less anxious if they know their place in the pecking order therefore feed the cats first do not let the dog near the cats bowls. Place the dogs bed away from where the cats sit or sleep. Greet the cats first and acknowledge the dog second this is not cruel and helps the animals feel secure. Do not spend hours trying to get them to be together it is only a temporary arrangement. Use a firm NO!! if there are problems and even a sprinkle of water, they can do alot of damage to each other. I successfully introduced a 4 year old bullmastiff to a 14 year old very dominate cat when the dogs owners went on holiday and they became very tolerant of each other wih no fighting. Spoil all the pets with special treats and attention good luck.

Dogs are a natural enimey of cats. Only time they can get use to each other is if they get use to each other at very young of age. Best thing to do is introduce them slowly by like getting the dog on a lead outside (as it might get exited and pee every where) and get a cat out one by one. If the dog barks then tell it no in a strong commanding voice and stear it in the eyes. This shows who is the master. This might or mgiht not work as like i said they are natural enimes.

We got our puppy right after our cat had kittens. He learned his place quickly! What helped though was to lock mama kitty in one of the bedrooms and let our dog have the run of the house when we were gone. That way she got used to his presence.
