I think the one of the three most common might be cobalt; that might be what you're thinking of. But there certainly are other magnetic metals. Try playing with a Neodymium magnet (which is actually made of Neodymium, Iron and Boron, I think...). They're wicked strong... and will give you a nasty pinch if youre not careful...

Tin, and I'm not so sure about nickel.
