I've heard figures everywhere from 1mm to 0.5cm.

it varies. for example, on the botto mof your feet it'll be really thick because you walk on it so it has to get rough in order to protect it. On parts of your body that u cover alot and dont touch or expose often skin will be thin and the area will be much more sensitive. Like if you play guitar, the skin on your finger gets thick and forms calluses to protect it. So the skin is different thicknesses depending on exposure and use of the area.

3mm is correct according to an article I just read. That is the AVERAGE thickness. Different places on your body have different thickness, with the extremes being the balls of your feet and your eyelids.
