Walk right on by. One of those news magazines did a story on this a few years back and reported that people that begged for money would go around the corner to their expensive cars and drive to their expensive homes. The money was all tax-free and they generally even made more money than they would have made if they held a legitimate job.

If you want to help someone out, give your dollar to a charity or stick it in the money bin at McDonald's.

I'd ask them what the dollar is for. If they say it's for food, I'd go back into the store with them and buy them some ham or something instead of just handing over money. Who knows what they're really after anyway?

I would not just walk by, I would say that I don't have it or could not give it.

I usually don't give money, I give snacks, or change...hardly ever whole dollars. It's hard to trust people these days...they could be in the situation they're in due to drugs or alcohol, and I don't want to condone that.

I don't usually have one 'cause I have a check card. I have taken people into the store with me and bought them what they need before. So yes, I'd do whatever I could.
