Women don't "have to" wear pantyhose. Many women do because they realize that hosiery enhances the way their legs look. Good legs look great and great legs look fantastic in pantyhose.
Also, I think that the argument that pantyhose are uncomfortable is very weak. I wear pantyhose every day and I do not find them to be uncomfortable at all.

We don't *have* to, but I personally prefer to go with rather than without. I also find them to be far more comfortable than without when I'm wearing a skirt.
If you find them so uncomfortable, I'd consider checking the size again and possibly getting the next size up. There's no benefit or accomplishment in squeezing into a smaller size...just that they'll be uncomfortable and run easier.

If your panty hose is that uncomfortable it is YOUR choice whether to wear them or not.. Sometimes women are allergic to the hose, so I would suggest a long skirt or slacks, or if you wish, and are comfortable wear jeans..
There are some very comfy dress cloths that do not require hose and are fine for office or home.
The main point here is, if it is bothering you this much please don't feel you must follow the others in their dress. They may feel just as uncomfortable as you do but no one had stood up to change the dress code. Step up and be yourself, it may surprise you what happens next.
Keep smiling and be happy with who you are and what you have in your heart.

I love 'em!!!! In winter, dark black pantyhose with a short, zippy skirt look fantastic - they allow me the fantasy that I have slender ankles, they cover my pasty-white winter legs, AND they do have a nice firming effect.
However, I would NEVER wear them with pants, NEVER wear any colour other than black, NEVER in summer, and NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER with an open-toed shoe.

We DON'T have to! I threw mine out years ago. Now, in the winter time a nice pair of tights is a girls best friend just for the sake of keeping warm but in the summer....my legs are bare & free!
