I think Oprah definitely has a little "Marie Antoinette" in her as of late. She has this air of superiority - as if money makes her a better person. Let's not even talk about the fact that noone else is allowed on the cover of "her" magazine...
She crows about any donations or charities she gets involved in and never misses an opportunity to "share" why she thinks marriage is such a bad idea.
She always says that with great wealth comes great responsibility - and she is right. But it seems it can't buy class... Too bad that invite to Tom and Katie's wedding got lost.....

I think she's okay...sure, she's probably full of herself since she is like the wealthiest female entertainer in the world. But I can't deny that she does attempt to tackle important issues and raise awareness about tragedy and pain that occurs in the lives of so many. Still, she probably wouldn't be this famous or rich if she wasn't Black. I mean, if she had been White, noone would have cared that she was a talk show host. Oprah can actually say she was lucky to be born Black...a lot of Black people probably wouldn't understand what that feels like. So, yeah, she's lucky.

No. I think she is a self righteous hypocrite. And the way she went off on James Frey about the ficticious parts of his book A MILLION LITTLE PIECES was just bogus. She once said in a lead up to an upcoming show "I have a confession to make....Steadman and I have a child"....turns out the child was her dog. How is that not ficticious?

I agree with you. She is very full of herself. It bugs me how she asks all of us for money for the "Angel Network," and then proceeds to pretend like she did it all herself, etc.
And, then she always has such wonderful parenting advice, although she has never raised children.
I also don't like the way her voice changes. Can't she just talk? Does everything have to be sung or shouted? I don't know...I certainly don't hate her, I just hate what Hollywood has done to her.

oprah has accomplished so much coming from such a difficult past and upbringing. why is it that if a woman becomes successful all of a sudden she is deemed conceited or full of herself but if a man achieves the same thing, he's celebrated? isn't this going along with the whole double standard? maybe we, women, should practice lifting each other up and celebrating our successes collectively instead of divisively bringing each other down.

I think she's a good person she give out to the world and stuff..
and she used be really poor back then.. she had to work really hard to get to where she is today.. so i think she knows that she's really lucky to have become oprah.

I used to respect Oprah for her "realness", but you are right...she has become self absorbed and very full of herself...and the way she always referred to Gayle as "My Best Friend Gayle" drove me crazy...

I really don't have much of an opinion on her but her show has become too depressing to watch anymore.
