I believe it starts at home. Make peace with yourself, then peace in your family, then in your workplace, then in your neighbourhood....you get it.

There's no way we will ever have world peace if people continue to abuse themselves or their families., argue with the neighbours. Turn the other cheek. Rise above it.

When I think about wars around the world, I think about European colonialism, poverty and nuclear proliferation. The absence of democracy is also a problem. In many countries, there is a history of prejudice.

The effects of American, British and French foreign policies cannot be understated. I also think of religious fundamentalists tend to block human rights reforms and secularism in society. I support religious freedom in practice, but that is different from mixing politics with religion and fundamentalism.

It seems to me that most countries, if not all countries, should only have limited armies for the purposes of self-defense and national emergencies. In order to do this for a country like Israel, the most militarized country in the world, it is necessary to negotiate genuine peace settlements with Lebanon, Palestine and Syria. However, this cannot and will not happen until terrorism is dealt with and democratic governments are installed. I can see the connection here between the U.S.-backed government of Lebanon, the civil war, religious tension, poverty, and Syrian interference. Actually, Lebanon was once a peaceful, prosperous, democratic and tolerant country. It is a good study of what went wrong. Israel, however, is a country under siege and there are serious issues of defense and security at stake. Negotiations are going to take a long time and need the backing of the U.N., the EU and the G8 countries.

To help, we must not take sides but look for solutions. You cannot be biased towards the Chinese but hate North Koreans for example. A lot of these problems are political in nature and are institutionalized. Take Somalia, for example. Solutions that are mainly military in nature will not succeed in the long-term; they are too short-sighted. 9/10 people killed by war these days are civilians.

I also would like to see an end to nuclear proliferation, guerilla warfare and terrorism, which pose risks in themselves. The atom should never have been split. This means finding ways to stop uranium enrichment and getting rid of nuclear reactors and weapons.

Seems to me that global crisis would play a part in bringing the nations of the world together. Global warming, tsunami's, earthquakes, floods, Tornatos, Valcanic eruptions such like that. We're going to have to work together on this subject to find some answers.

Maybe it is as simple as just being nice to your neighbours. If we start at home and if everyone does it maybe it will spread. Accept each other for who we are, we do not have to all agree that is what makes the world so great we all have different views and ideas. thanks for asking this question

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.

He has sent down to thee the Book containing the truth and fulfilling that which precedes it; and He has sent down the Torah and the Gospel before this, as a guidance to the people; and He has sent down the Discrimination

O People of the Book! Why do you dispute concerning Abraham, When the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? Will you not then understand.
