Look for the name and version of the BIOS on the screen when it first boots. You can use the Pause/Break to halt the screen if it goes too fast, and press Enter to resume

In many cases, you can identify the motherboard by the BIOS string. This string is often displayed during boot-up (press pause to stop the process long enough to copy it down) but if not displayed there, run winmsd and look at the BIOS Version/Date line.

From this value, you should be able to cross-reference to the specific motherboard for that BIOS. Use sites http://www.wimsbios.com/ and others to help.

I would suggest a free download of something like "Belarc Advisor" because: It tells you all the software on your computer..
It tells you every program on there. It shows what your c omputer is kind of made of. It shows my mother board, screen resolution, anti-virus, speaker connections, everything that is only MY computer. Beware of people suggesting any links on here or in emails, or some websights. They wanna sometimes know what's in your computer so they can "steal" your conputer's info. There is so much of people trying to steal our identities too. Don't fall for things like some links people suggest. I had problems even with links people put in thier answers even on Yahoo Answers. It wasn't Yahoo's fault. I am not suggesting anything harmful to your pc. If you don't believe me contact WGN. I don't work for them, but thery are a superstation in the USA media on am radio and television.

You really can't. The best you can do is, possibly, determine what chipsets are being used by running various diagnostic tools.
