I mean I have seen questions that are reasonable and people are mean! I don't get it! I've even seen people asking for weight problems and people are mean about that! I'm sorry but that's just wrong! HAVE A HEART PEOPLE!!

You have to understand where it comes from...you have immature people who are answering questions in that way just to get a reaction from people. You have acknowledged their posting and they got under the other person's skin...they win.
It happens quite often in online gaming as well. Somebody new to the game asks a simple but probably valid question, and someone bites their head off or gives a smart "mule" answer.
What you have to do is read all the responses and look at the feedback people are giving. The lame answers will usually trigger a series of thumbs down calls.

I know - some people are really nasty - but I think that they don't have the guts to be this way in person, so they take out their frustrations via the net, where they, or their identities can't be found. They think they are cool, being so disrespectful and spiteful to total strangers - they are just cowards - I'm learning to ignore their comments - but yep, these people should have more heart, and more consideration of people!

There's no single answer
Some people have an odd sense of humour and enjoy upsetting people, particularly if it gets them some attention.
Some people ar narrow minded and object to questioners with different beliefs/cultures/lifestyles.
Some people like to feel superior by criticising questioners spelling, grammar and use of English; that's particularly stupid as this varies from one English speaking country to another.
Some people genuinely misunderstand the question and take offence.
Some questions are genuinely offensive and get angry responses. I've given nasty responses to nasty questions myself.

The reason is this.. People are generally mean & have always had their mean views on others. Now, with the introduction of the internet & Y!A, there is a medium through which these 'mean' people can access decent people like you & me.
I wouldn't bother with them because these people are cowards & would never have the nerves to tell you these horrible things in the same way if they met you in person. They are hiding here on the net with false identities so you cant point them out.

I think some people are just born mean or they get a kick out of hurting others feelings, you just always be as nice and caring as you are and don't let the meanies of this world get you down.

I have been told before I was mean about answering questions about obesity. I answered no differently than I would have to someones face. I am pretty much known for being blatantly honest though. It's not that I don't have a heart it's just that I can't condone or praise the behavior of someone who is killing him/herself. I call it like I see it. I don't care about being politically correct. I don't curse. I don't chastise. I just state the facts. I feel if someone doesn't want a real answer they shouldn't post the question or they should preface it by saying, "reply only if you're going to agree with me and pat me on the back."

It's very unfortunate, but for some it's their way of lashing out and making themselves feel better about themselves. It's alot like a person belittling another to make up for their own shortcomings. And because this is fairly anonymous.... the bullies really come out.

I wish I had a really great answer to this question . How ever I can't understand it myself . We have a choice either be kind and try to help others or show our butts by attacking people . I prefer to be kind and reach out to others so my mind won't comprehend those who don't .

People will always be people which is why we call ourselves the human race. Who knows why we pick on other peoples problems, maybe it makes us feel superior. I was taught if you have nothing good to say then say nothing at all. There will always be one in every crowed unfortunately.

i agree to an extent.
i think that some askers just like to be dumb and put offensive and stupid questions on here, and in turn the answers they get aren't always the most tasteful.
but personally if the question asked is a serious and genuwine one, then it diserves serious answers.
